Finding a past encounter should take seconds, not a scroll through an undifferentiated list. Tali's updated History tab gives you a table view, sorting, filtering, grouping, and custom labels, so your past encounters are organized around your workflow, not just your memory of when something happened.

What Is New in Encounter History

The History tab in Tali now includes:

These changes are available on Web, Desktop, and Chrome Extension.

How to Use Encounter Labels

Labels let you organize related encounters and find them quickly by the categories that matter to your workflow. A clinic location, a visit type, a follow-up status, or any other grouping you find useful can become a label.

A label appears as a coloured dot and name next to the encounter title in History.

Creating a label from Settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Labels
  2. Select New label
  3. Choose a colour
  4. Enter a label name and optional description
  5. Select Create

The label is now available to apply to any encounter.

Adding a label to an encounter:

  1. Open the History tab
  2. On the encounter, select the label indicator next to the encounter title
  3. Search or scroll to find your label
  4. Select it to apply

Labels save automatically. You can apply multiple labels to the same encounter. When several labels are applied, the first appears alongside a +N indicator. Select the indicator to view all labels on that encounter.

Creating a label directly from an encounter:

If you need a label that does not exist yet, you can create it on the spot without going to Settings:

  1. Open the label picker on the encounter
  2. Type the name of the new label
  3. Select Create "label name"

The label is created, applied immediately, and added to your label list for future use.

Removing a label from an encounter:

Open the label picker and select the applied label to turn it off. Removing a label from an encounter does not delete the label. It remains available for other encounters.

How to Filter and Group by Label

Filtering:

  1. Open the History tab
  2. Select Filter in the toolbar
  3. Choose Label and select one or more labels

History updates to show only matching encounters. You can combine label filters with date and template filters to narrow results further.

Grouping:

  1. Open the History tab
  2. Select Display options in the toolbar
  3. Under Grouping, select Label

Encounters are organized under their label headings. Encounters without a label appear in a separate group.

Practical Ways to Use Labels

Labels work best when they reflect the categories that already exist in your workflow. A few ways clinicians are using them:

Start with one or two categories that create the most friction today. Labels do not need to be exhaustive to be useful.
