A macro is a shortcut that inserts frequently used text into a note while you are editing. You define the shorthand and the content it expands into. When you type the shorthand or say the trigger phrase during dictation, Tali replaces it with the full text automatically.
For example:
That is one command instead of one full sentence typed from scratch, every single visit.
Macros work across typed and spoken workflows. If you enable a verbal trigger, you can say the phrase while dictating edits and Tali will insert the full content without you needing to type anything at all.
If you find yourself editing the same phrase repeatedly, you can turn it into a macro without leaving your note:
The macro is saved and available in all future notes immediately.
While editing a generated note, type / to see all available shorthands. Select the one you want, or type it out in full, and Tali replaces it with the complete macro content.
If you have enabled a verbal trigger, say the phrase while dictating your edits and Tali will insert the full text without requiring you to type anything.
Macros are most useful for clinical content that is consistent across visits and takes meaningful time to type. Common examples include:
The more you use Tali, the more you will identify the phrases worth saving. Start with the ones you type most often and build from there.
Macros are part of Tali's Adaptive Memory system, which learns from how you document over time and surfaces suggestions to make future notes start closer to your preferences. Macros put that personalization directly in your hands, letting you define exactly how your most common content should read.
You stay in control throughout. Tali only inserts macro content when you trigger it. Nothing changes in your notes unless you choose to apply it.
What is a macro in a clinical documentation tool? A macro is a short command that expands into a longer, reusable block of text when triggered. In Tali, macros work with both typed shorthands and spoken trigger phrases during dictation.
Can I use voice commands to trigger macros in Tali? Yes. When you enable the Verbal trigger option on a macro, you can say the phrase during note editing and Tali will insert the full macro content automatically.
Where are macros saved in Tali? Macros are saved under Settings > AI Scribe > Adaptive Memory > Macros. You can view, edit, and delete them from there at any time.
Can I create a macro from text already in a note? Yes. Highlight any text in a generated note, select Create macro from the formatting toolbar, assign a shorthand, and save. The macro is available for all future notes immediately.
Do macros change my notes automatically? No. Macros only insert content when you actively trigger them by typing the shorthand or saying the verbal trigger phrase. Nothing changes in your notes unless you choose to apply it.
